Engine cutting out going up a hill
Hi all, my dream was running good, didn't ride for a few weeks, when I did, when I throttled to go up a hill, at low speed, the engine ran slow, no power, and died. Took the carb off and cleaned, tried adjusting it, got a big backfire. Also checked the screen in the petcock, which was clean and the gas cap. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. thanks

cuts out when going up hill
Hi, thanks for the reply, I did check the vent, was clear, any other suggestions? thanks a lot
Could have been some water in the fuel? Sometimes if in a humid environment water can condense in fuel tanks. That is the only thing that would make sense to me considering it occurred while going uphill. Look in the fuel tank and see if you see a blob of water on the bottom of the tank. If so or even if not try to drain some of the fuel out of the tank with the bike on a slight incline and this may solve the water problem if you have one.
Good luck,
Jethro
