Just a thought is it the plunger in the clutch basket that pushes against the left engine cover? hope my description makes sense.

Good deal but it doesn't look like any of the OEM HONDA parts that I have for that application. ..........lm

Where did you put the washer on the shaft?. .........lm

just got side cases back from painter and the inspection covers from polisher. I will post pics soon. I still cant figure out what the pin is for or if it belongs in the oil pump shaft. Is is a check valve? Are there more parts missing like a spring and ball? I have not been able to find it on any parts breakdowns that I can find. Thanks It definitely came out of this motor which is a CA77

The pin is not the retainer for the oil filter. When I said it fits in the shaft, I meant that the od of the pin fits the id of the shaft. The thrust washer and pin are in place. The pin also fits perfectly in the end of the transmission output shaft on the right side of the motor(where the chain sprocket is) Could this be the home for my mystery pin?
