There is a master link but the odds of it being in the spot you need it to be in are pretty slim.

You could dump some sort of penetrant into the spark plug holes and be patient. Maybe it will free up.

Tried that already. Was working on tearing rest of engine down when hit the shift problem. thinking of grinding down the weld and trying that route. Will look for master link and pray.

remove the cams and you'll have enough slack to slip the cam chain off the sprocket.

Good advice! I think I may have even done that once or twice. Kinda forgot about that.

You've probably already looked for the master llink in these spots, but just in case, take a look inside where the chain tensioner and oil pump openings are and make sure you cant access the master link through these. I've been lucky once or twice with this.

The only one I have not checked is the oil pump. Good thinking.
