The development of Electronic Ignition (for the CB72, CB77,
CP77, CL72 and CL77 Honda motorcycles) involved many years of design and
testing. In fact, the design is continuing to evolve, incorporating the
latest technological advances. The result - the most effective upgrade you can make to your 1961-1968 Honda
Superhawk or Scrambler.
With all the praise that 247/305cc Honda motors deserve, the dual-points timing method is
(was) a built-in Achilles heel. Prior to solid state, there was no practical, reliable way to make both cylinders fire at the same point in relation
to their respective TDC.
Just to what degree that design defect affected the performance becomes
apparent the first time you run your bike with the Electronic Ignition.
