OK guys...I need some help here.
I am assembling the rear brake cable and noticed there is nothing for the rear brake spindle to stop against.
Shouldn't the rear brake stopper bump aggainst something to allow the rear brake cable to be adjusted?
I have no pics of how it is supposed to be. Can someone take some pics of their rear brake spindle where the rear brake cable attaches? I would sure appreciate it!!!
Is my bike missing something? It's a 1965 CL77.
Thanks in advance,
Gary

brake spindle
Yes, I have both Ed but can see no clear view as to what hits where. Looks like another modification prior to my acquiring the bike.
When purchased, the brake light switch was mounted with a homemade bracket just to get it to work.
I have never been up close and personal with another CL so I have nothing to compair to.
If you know of a photo in the the parts manual or repair book showing what fits where, let me know what page.

Re: brake spindle
On the cross over bar/shaft near the chrome part is a post toward the inside of the bike.
At the frame above this and where the end of the brake cable inserts is a small hole for a wire with a "U" shape hook bent into it.
A special spring is placed between them to pull up on the bar/shaft. ...............lm

Brake question
OK,
Here's where I stand.
Looks like the brake switch that came with the bike is the wrong type. Mine is a pull type switch that needs a spring or wire which attaches to the plunger of the switch that is PULLED out in order to activate the switch.
From the replies, I am taking it that the PUSH type switch is the correct type. Confirm???
My parts list only lists one PN for all years: 35350-273-000
Ed, I know the special piece of wire you're referring to as well as the POST. My original wire was rusted in half and fell into two pieces.
Are these still available or do I need to make one?
As I stated before, I have no BRACKET on the bike frame with which to mount my switch. I've had to fabricate a switch mounting bracket. I had nothing to go by, hence my original post.
Thank you all for your input.
I'll get it straightened out eventually.
