What I actually meant was the RIGHT SIDE Cover.
Yep the other LS. .................lm

A can of spray Brake Cleaner (lots of it) should remove any sticky stuff.
All 3 holes. ...............lm

I've rebuilt this one twice now. I get about two good starts then parts start sticking again.

I hope not to hijack Repsol, but I wonder if the collective could give advice on getting these little pistons unstuck. Could it be spring length? The rebuild kit is great and all the parts are new except of course the main part of the clutch itself.

Okay so I'm still a bit confused. I removed the cover and took a peek. I'm not really sure how to proceed from here to remove the starter clutch. I don't want to try and do something and mess up the inner workings of the motor. I've attached some pictures.

As LM said, remove the right side cover (the kick start lever will stay attached) and the alternator stator.

Screw that bolt tight into the rotor and tap the end of the bolt with a hammer.

The rotor will come off with the starter clutch attached to the back. Depending upon your level of mechanical skill / curiosity / confidence you will either be more or less confused at this point but you will definitely have more knowledge.....

Do you have a workshop manual? No? Get one and read it. A parts list is also helpful. The forum is not a replacement fro a workshop manual but can help interpret it for you.

I'm guessing that you will have more questions when you come to re-assemble.....

Thanks Mouse! I'll give that a try. Here's a few more pics that may help Repsol. The starter clutch is attached to the back

I took the whole side cover off.

Pictures are really helpful. Thanks Tusk. Before I start taking the cover off is there anything that I should know regarding connections in there that need to be unhooked?
