Float Valve Seat CA77

Post by catterar » Mon Jun 12, 2017 1:08 pm

I believe that my float valve is not seating properly. Shortly after opening the petcock I have a large puddle of gas on the floor about 12 to 18 inches across. This just started this spring after a year of riding with no leaking.
I have taken the carburetor apart and made sure the float height setting is correct. There is no indication that the float is leaking however one of the chambers is dented. I have ordered a new float that should arrive on Saturday.
I have two float valve seats one is stamped 2.0 and the other is stamped 2.5. Which is the correct seat for a CA77? Are the float valve needles specific to the seat? The needle that was with the 2.5 seat sticks when you press the tip in. I haven't tried soaking it in carb cleaner yet and if they are not specific I will use the one from the 2.0 seat that moves freely.
Thanks,
Bob
