Oil seal kick start shaft

I've replaced all the oil seals on right side except the kick start shaft. Does any one have a quick tip on how to remove old seal? This is on a 65 CL 77

I've have had luck removing oil seals with a paint can opener. I put a screwdriver through the handle. Just be careful not to damage anything other than the old seal.
