overcharging battery?overcharging battery?I have a Striker Trail tech digital speed/voltage display unit on my 1965 CL77 305 Scrambler. While riding the voltage is reading around 16 volts. Any concerns about destroying the battery or is it more likely the trail tech reading is not accurate?
Re: overcharging battery? As a rule you will boil the battery dry.

Re: Overcharging batteryIf you charge at that rate and ride much you will boil that battery dry and ruin it same as we did in the 60's until HONDA lowered the magnetism of the rotor. ......................lm
If you have doubts about the trail tech, check it against another more trusted meter. If 16 volts is correct, a voltage regulator might be a good idea if you plan to ride at highway speed for extended periods. There are a number of aftermarket units available and also posts here that detail adapting a very reasonably priced Kohler rectifier/regulator unit.
