silly strategy for rear shock refurb on a ca77

since the square shocks on the back of a ca77 (and others?) are getting harder and more expensive to find. Has anyone on the board ever tried to install brand new shocks inside the square housings?

• Is this even possible?
  what shocks do you recommend?
  have any comments on the procedure?

Never tried it, but having a think, it's probvably possible - but then, most things are given time & money (both are usually the limiting factors!)

I've often pulled apart relativlely cheap Taiwanese & Thai shocks to mix & match covers/springs, etc, and they would be a good starting place - A set of Thai YSS shocks would be far superior to the OEM shocks anyway.....

Hello Beth.
At best those shocks were not all that god.
I ride a 1963 CB77 that I removed the springs and made sure the dampening was as new and still use them. ........................lm
