New meter-decal applied, but I didn't fancy 'sticking' the meter onto the oval metal/rubber surround, so I carefully drilled through the frame & into the main shell, ground a point on a pair of stainless cap-head bolts.
So when they are fitted through the headlamp-shell, the points go into the holes & pull the unit tight down onto the rubber ring.
Another question, under the steering damper there is some sort of retainer at the rear of the head-stem bearing, what's it for??

Hi model man,
Refurbished speedo revcounter looks good. Not sure what you're referring to with your question about the retainer at the rear of the lower steering stem bearing, there is an oblong projection which anchors the friction disc in the steering damper, is that what you mean? If not post a picture.
