I wonder if air cooling is inadequate for the 358 cc motor hence the inclusion of the oil cooler. Would be interesting to know how the increase in displacement has affected horsepower and torque.

Jerry Kooistra in Australia built successful 350 and 500cc racers based on the CB77 so I don't think that cooling is a big problem for a 350 road bike..... :-)

Thanks G-man. My crude linear extrapolation says 45-hp for your 500. Could you tell me how much a 500 overhaul would cost if farmed out?

Yes, it came with a 350cc race bike I purchased. I haven't looked inside yet but it has a crank made up from CB77 and CB450 parts and the cam chain tunnel is welded up in the middle so that the bores don't break into the tunnel.

Nice looking bike G-Man. I must admit I'm hoping for something a little less invasive like the 'Big Bore Kit.' The only review I have found on it so far is by a guy who blew a large hole in a piston trying it.

The bike above has a 350 kit, won the 1994 British 350 classic championship and lapped the IOM TT course in the hands of a Honda employee during Honda's 50th anniversary celebrations.

The holed piston was probably more down to set up than over stressing the engine. Holed pistons were a common outcome for overworked and badly set-up Hondas in the 60s....
