Yeah, of course there are currently zero right side cases on ebay, but 5 or 6 left side. Is the kick start gear the smae on the cl77 or ca 7?

The CB72/77 were unique in that the kickstarter kicked forward. The side cases are the same, but the CA/CL won't have the idler gear that the Superhawk does.

Someone on here may have a serviceable idler gear. Hopefully someone does and they'll post something here! :)

The right-side cover is often cracked at the kickstart bushing-it seems to be one of the rare weak points of this machine. The bushing itself is a plastic material, and these days often crumbles to pieces. My 305 had a long, nasty bead of weld clear across the right-side cover, so I got another on ebay, that still had all the mechanisms installed-sure enough, it was cracked, too. I took it to a very good welder, who built up the weak area around the kicker bushing. My own theory is that guys assembled the right-side cover without "timing" the kicker mechanism properly, and cracked the case when they stomped down hard on the kickstart .

Way back "in the day", when my bike and I were both young, I broke my side cover. The kickstarter had dropped down (the return spring had broken), and I didn't notice it. I went around a right corner, the kickstart arm hit the pavement, and there went the side cover. I think the replacement, back then (1974-1975) with the labor was over $100. That was lot in those days!
