CA77 Throttle Cable

Post by mason123h » Sun Aug 04, 2013 2:01 pm

I just recieved a throttle cable for a CA77 Dream in the mail, and it is for an early model I believe and I have a 1964. The cable has a metal elbow on the end for the handlebars. I am wondering how I am supposed to set this up [where does the elbow enter the bars, etc.]. I will be using clubman handlebars.
Thanks!

The elbow doesn't enter the bars, it screws into the bottom of the early throttle housing/starter switch, it is part 35800-257-000. You can use a CB77/CB72 throttle housing part 35250-281-000 . You will need to change your throttle pipe to 53141-205-000 to use the early cable.

Throttle cable

Your '64 would have the late style handlebars with the hinge under the throttle pipe. That set up would not work on the Clubman's without some modifications.

If you want to use an early cable you will have to get an early right side throttle assembly (or something similar) to go with it. It will fit a 7/8" bar.

Throttle

Post by mason123h » Mon Aug 05, 2013 9:09 am

Thanks for the feedback! I just purchased a new right side starter switch assembly. I am most likely just gonna buy a twist throttle assembly from another bike and adapt it to the Clubman's. The whole setup that the Dream has with the hinge and everything would be quite difficult to reproduce correctly on another set of bars. I have also read that with clubman bars you have to cut your throttle cables to make them shorter. I am not quite sure how you would do that and still have them functional [with the bead and everything that connects to throttle slide].

Thanks for helping!
