CA77 Carb Rebuild
CA77 Carb RebuildWaiting on some parts for my bike, I decided I might as well use the time to go through the carb. I have a few questions on the subject, please be gentle as it has been at least 20 years since I have been inside ANY carb and never in a Honda carb! :)
The main jet that was in the carb is a 120, the slow jet a 35. The jets in my carb kit (by Keyster) are 130 and 40. 1. Should I use the new jets or should I be better off using the old, but presumably "correct", jets? Also I found something curious with the needle valve, it was noticeably wore from just below the notches down to about 15mm below the notches. At the end of the wore area it worsens forming a shallow groove all the way around the needle. Not very deep, but noticeable by eye. 2. Any idea as to what would have cause that, and is there anything I can do as a preventative measure to keep the same from happening with the new needle? 3. Lastly, what notch should I set the needle in? The original was set in the middle notch. Thanks in advance!!

Re: CA77 Carb RebuildPut the old jets back in.
Was the needle loose in the slide?. ............lm
Re: CA77 Carb RebuildNot that I noticed, but then I wasn't looking for any looseness etc. when I was taking it apart, and it was only after it was apart and cleaned that I noticed the wear. I do know that the clips (the small "E" clip that engages the notch on the needle and the larger retaining clip) were in place and as well as I can remember fully seated. Thanks.
