mufflers for cb77 1965
You could try doubling up the brackets on each side to reduce the stress concentration. i.e. make a bracket (upside-down Y shape) that picks up on two places in the channel. That might be enough to reduce the tendency for the mounting channel to fracture.

got the exhaust today, and just did a trial fit at 3am,,,,when i got off work. The right side fits no problem, the left side is going to need some modification. The center stand hits it when in the upright position. Not sure what i am going to do about that, just have to make some previsions....maybe have to dent in the bottom of the muffler some to let it sit fully upright.

yes, the rubber thing sits right on the bottom of the muffler. It just looks like it holds the center stand down about 1/4 of the way, if the muffler was not there it would definitely go up further.. was yours like that as well?

I know they will fit properly, as I had three sets on my bike - with the center stand too, and without any dent.

got the pipes all installed today and even though it keeps the center stand down a little, the rubber piece rests on the bottom of the muffler like you said. I think i will get a small piece of hose and replace it just to keep the old one from melting. Even with the center stand down a little, it does not effect the riding of the bike. i sat on it, bounced on it, layed it over as far as i could each way and it no where near touches the ground, so all is good. I love the sound of these. Even though still loud, it sounds great!
Do you think my old pipes are worth anything? i was told they were webco or wesco, cant remember exactly which.
