520 chain/sprocket conversion for CB77?

Post by markstertt » Sat Feb 23, 2013 1:05 am

Looks like my '62 CB77 needs a new drive chain and I would like to put an "O" or "X" ring style on it but when looking at the room available it appears the stock 530 chain O.B. side comes rather close to the kick starter gears. I searched but wasn't getting anywhere except for one post that mentioned a 520 conversion & was hoping someone could steer me in the right direction, this would be in 15/32T sprocket combo..thanks, Mark

Don't know if either an O ring or X ring chain will work (even going to a 520), but contact these guys: http://www.sprocketspecialists.com/

I did a 520 conversion and went with a standard Tsubaki chain. Was a pretty straightforward conversion.

Thanks Vince, their site lists CB77 ffrom '66 & up so I will give them a call after the weekend. I'm sure I found C/S spare sprockets in a box and did notice 2 different size inside diameter holes so will ck. Bill Silvers resto guide & see what I can find. Maybe I'll post this question on the CB forum...Mark

I have done the conversion on a couple CB77s and a CL72 as well. Sprocket specialists can cut you sprockets in 520 size, and as many teeth as you'd like.

I just bought a 520 kit from moto-madness. I found them on the Do The Ton forum.

130 shipped, for a hardened steel front sprocket and an aluminum rear sprocket.
