handle bar switches

My CB77 was in non-running condition when i got it, and still is. I haven't really had much time to hunt down the reason, but I know the kickstarter is loose (it wiggles around). Another thing that I noticed is that the previous owner cut the wires going to the handlebar switches, my guess is, during handlebar installation.

Is the kill switch being disconnected going to prevent me from starting the bike, or will it just prevent me from killing it after I start it?

There is (was) no kill switch on a CB77. THe only buttons are starter (right) and horn (left).

The ignition switch key in the side cover turns the ignition on / off

perfect. I always wondered why some bikes had both a kill switch and an ignition with an "off" position.

If I'm running no starter and no horn, I don't need to bother with the switches at all then. Thanks for going easy on a newb.

Are you running a battery? If you don't have a switch you will drain the battery when the bike is 'off'.

Battery yes. I'll still have the ignition switch under the seat, so if its "off" and the keys are in my pocket, it wouldn't still be draining the battery, would it?

They have a kill switch so that if the throttle sticks wide open, you don't have to go fumbling for the ignition switch!

Good to know. My Vespas don't have ignition switches. I may wire in a emergency kill switch later down the line when I build a new harness.
