finally got the case split on one that sat for 5+ years. luckily there was some oil in it, but parts of the crank have surface rust on them that was above the oil line.<br /><br />i have all the new seals and gaskets. <br /><br />what is the best cleaner to use, and the best way if i don't want to pull out all the transmission?<br /><br />the oil came out like brown crud, but it kept the lower end from rusting solid.

Just pull the trans out ya already have it opened up.I use canned brake clean and compressed air to clean mostly. It cleans well and dries quickly.<br /><br /><br />georGe
