slide screws were in one turn as the bike won't idle at all unless the slide screws are turned in a little. Is that normal?
They bottomed in the sense they were all the way down except the tiny amount from the side slide screws being in one turn.
Slides are right and left.

This is long shot but I remember an old service bulletin about about poor idle quality issues, on the 305 Superhawks, being related to poor grounding of the condensor brackets. Old Hondas don't have a dedicated ground wire in the harness to tie everything together like the newer ones(they use the frame for a ground), add some age-related things like corrosion and grime buildup in the joints and you can have problems. I like to add a ground wire circuit, ring terminals on the tail light bolts, rectifier stud, negative battery terminal, ignition parts and the headlight ground wires spliced into one common wire. It may not suit the resto police to have extra wires in the harness but my lights are bright, the battery charges and the bike runs good.

The springs are bad and the problem is ya need to remove the engine to get to the cam advance and replace them. ................lm

Can rotate it back and forth a little, maybe from 12pm to 1pm, before the spring gives resistance.
I think this is bad.
Thanks for the call Ed.
I went out and messured, and I have about 2.5 to 3 mm of play in the cam.
Can someone look at this video and confirm its too sloppy before I throw in the towel?
It will be some time before I can actually pull the engine, and even then I have my doubts about trying it.
I want to be 100% before I take this plunge.
Thanks!
