Are these worn out?

Hi,
These seem to be in pretty bad condition, but they may still be serviceable.

the "nodules" have the worst wear on them, the rest seem ok. Are the "nodules" important or are they just for locating the pads when putting the hub together?

they look a little different, but that could just be that mine are worn...
The "nodules" seem to be very different, and the edges also seem to have a different shape.

I am pretty sure there are early and late dampers that must match your hubs.

After a bit of hunting around you are right, there are two types.
The difference seems to be the locators on the back of the dampers.

Has anyone fitted the newer type to the old hub?

I only ask as the newer type you can get in polyeurathane and the old type seem to be NOS which may not be any good any more.

Unless they're falling apart I'd reuse them.
With mine, I cleaned them with soap and water, then wiped all the soap residue off with a paper towl soaked with rubbing alcohol, then soaked them with a silicon type rubber treatment like armorall or something like that for a while.

The back pieces have started to fall off, but the important parts seem to be alright.

It seems to be an important part of the bike, if they start to fil I will get myself some of the new type and give them a go.
