Thanks - It would be nice if Tim's repros were accurate. I looked at my records and I bought a new OEM from Apex cycle in 2008 for $90. I remember that having hurt a little...

I heard back from Tim and he said he's sold 100's of them without any problem. He thinks the air tube may have stretched over the years from the heat of the engine. But I don't understand how a new, shorter one could fit. The carb can't be moved, the filter can't be moved (it's got that rod that goes through it) so how can it have possibly worked with a shorter tube?? I'm stumped. I don't suppose anyone out there with a CA77 knows the length of their air tube?

My original is 8 1/2" on the long side and 7" on the short side.

You do have the carb insulator installed between the carb and the head?

I measured mine with a tape measure along the spine of the long side. I'm going to do it with a ruler like your pic and see what the old and the new looks like compared to yours. I really appreciate you measuring and taking the pic. This will help SO much. I'll measure tonight after work and let you know how mine measures up! Thank you!

Well, I finally found a tape measure, and along the long spine it is 9".

I checked my old one again and it's 9 inches. There's just no way this is going to fit. So now I have to decide whether to return it and buy another one from someone else, or just buy one of those Uni filters and put it on the end. I'd like to try to buy another one, just because I'm curious to see if it will be bigger!

I would try to find the correct one or make that one work with the stock filter if I could.

You may want to contact another vendor and get the measurement of their tube for comparison.

It might be possible to re-drill the air filter to position it closer to the tube if all else fails.
