I'm tearing down my '65 CL77 front wheel to inspect/pack the bearings. I have removed the bearing retainer and my book tells me to "Remove the two bearings and the bearing spacer" but does not tell me how or what type of tool to use to accomplish this. Do I drive these straight through the housing from one direction or the other or do the bearings need to be removed by pulling? Please help.
Thanks,
Gary

Re: Front wheel bearings and spacer
As the spacer has 3 centering points on each I use a long hard punch which I can place the end at the place just inside the bearing at the obsit end. (punch through one bearing and through to the inside edge of the other)
Then I hit the punch sideways and colapse one ot the 3 points.
That allowes me to use the punch and knock the bearing out by putting the punch on the inside race of the bearing. ..........lm

Bearings and spacer
OK, LM, Thanks.
I read this that the LH bearing has to come out the LH side and the RH bearing has to come out of the RH side and you use the long punch from the opposite side you're removing.
I appreciate that.

Re: Bearings and spacer
That is correct. After you have knocked the spacer to the side enough to be able to hit the center of the bearing. ..................lm
