Hi all,
I'm over in the UK, and have just bought a 1967 CB77 which is about 70% restored. I'd really appreciate a bit of advice as the bikes are fairly rare over here.
Most of the cables on the bike appear to have turned a sort of brown, faded color - is there anything I can do to restore them, or is the only answer to replace them all? If I do have to replace them, is this relatively easy to do?
It also has a strange, short front fender, which seems to be only half as long as it should be. I'm guessing this isn't original? Does anyone know where I might be able to pick a correct fender up in the UK?
Thanks,
Steph.
Discolored Cables

Welcome to the forum. You might try a little paint thinners on the cable to see if the discolouration comes off. Fairy liquid might work too.
You can get some new cables from David Silver Spares www.davidsilverspares.co.uk They are reasonably easy to replace, depending upon your skill level.
The front fender has been cut down and they are fairly hard to pick up in nice condition. Keep looking on eBay. Where are you in UK?
You can pm me if you need a chat about the bike. I am in the middle of restoring several, but work keeps intruding to slow things down.....
I have a PDF parts manual if you need one.

Thanks G-Man,
My boyfriend and I are hoping to pick the bike up in the next couple of weeks so we'll try some paint thinners on the cables.
We're down in the Bournemouth area and have relatively little experience with restoring bikes, this is our first real project! Thanks for the offer of advice.
I'll let you know how we get on.
