Need some steering lock advice.

Hi,
So I went to the local locksmith the other day (who has made me some keys for my CL350) and he was baffled by the steering lock number. He said it came back on his computer as a BMW number which he assured me wouldn't work for my CA77.
My steering lock number is NB639.
Anyone have any suggestions?
