Plane and simple.
If ya can spray with a contact cleaner than while closed Pull a Business Card through them.
This will clean that one and while ya at it ya should do both. ........................lm

do you think simply dirty points would casue my stalling and clunking issue? is this description indicate one of the cylinders not firing possibly?

I don't know about the stalling but do know if the points are dirty that cylinder will not fire/run correctly.
I have no knowledge of you and how you ride and am not there to see your problem.
In the early 60's there was a statement "YOUR CARB PROBLEM IS IN DIRECT PROPORTION TO THE "MISS ADJUSTMENT OF THE POINTS".
I recommend ya make sure the carbs are clean in all passages and that the points are timed correctly then ride/run the bike and see what occurs. ......lm

I would suggest that you follow LM's suggestions to get the points and carbs clean first. Without doing that, you will never really know what is going on.

Just out of idle curiosity, how is the bike when you push it around, and if you put it into first gear pull in the clutch and push it, how is it?

You can do those tests with the engine stopped and listen for clunks and clanks and roughness. It's not a comprehensive diagnostic tool, but it might point to something

The motor has compression and seems to sound function normally when it's not running but in gear. no clanking or sounds or anything. The clutch works fine engaging and disenging when it's not running as well.

thanks for all the advice from everyone. i appreciate it very much.
