However after having them mounted, much of the paint was stripped / damaged. If you read up on suggestions of many of the white wall paints, they recommend painting after installation with periodic touch ups if the tires are ridden. In the end I stripped off all the paint and went with the full white wall inserts.
I thought about that. I already mentioned that I didn't care all that much for the full white wall so there is a section around the bottom not painted. I'll also do it myself not on a machine.

That's what I was told. I taped mine and I had zero issues with the paint wanting to lift when I removed the tape.
The problem (so it seems) is with brand new tires still releasing oils.

Received my Fonzies today. The first thing they say is to mount your tires and ride for 30 days to weather the tires and get the oils out of them.

My tires have "aged". I couldn't imagine taping off a rear tire. Bit of a PITA.

I picked up my dream about 2 years ago and tried the white wall paint as soon as I got it. I'm not certain the manufacturer of the paint used. I'm thinking it was Fronzies however I'll double check this evening. However I was using new ties so perhaps it was also the issue of the tires releasing oils. I was a newbie at that point and had little knowledge or patience in dealing with the bike.
I realize the full white walls aren't for everyone, but my thoughts are the wider the better! I've been really happy with the inserts so far. Like you I wanted a tire with a little better performance but couldn't have a dream without that flash of white on the tires.

I realize it's soon, but how's the paint holding up so far?
I just got a Cheng Shin for the rear and noticed it has a perfect raised 1/2 inch wide ring around the sidewall, which would be handy as a guide for painting a narrow WW.
