I'd say go for it. The port-o-walls are such a great value considering you can reuse them when you get new tires. I think they were something like $27 for all four from Universal Vintage Tire. Tell your husband to take my word for it. They are worth it if you want white walls.

in the old days they worked great on bias ply tires but they didn't sit well on the radial tires because of the sidewall bow
