You will love that cabinet. Get yourself a bag of glass beads for cleaning up aluminum. Less agressive and leaves a smoother finish. When I have a need, I'm going to try soda in my cabinet. I suspect it will all go into the vacuum cleaner, though. Might end up doing that stuff outside and just let it fly into the wind.
Another good media is walnut shells. It cleans without removing material. I actually cleaned a vintage cloth covered wiring harness with walnut shells. It removed the varnish from the cloth, but that is easy to replace and the harness looks much better. It was an accidental discovery while cleaning up a chrome switch with the walnut shells. Some wires were still on it and where they got blasted, looked pretty good.
