Hello all,
Just joined the group here. What an incredible resource!
After years of putting around on my trusty but underwhelming '66 CT90, I decided that it was time to take a leap into the world of the 305 Dream - a bike I have always admired but never owned. After searching fruitlessly for a CA77 that I could afford locally, I ended up buying one on ebay (shudder). Well, its a done deal and now I'm probably in the same place as all new owners - on the steepest part of the learning curve and overwhelmed by all the information out there.
So here is the first problem that I need to tackle. The bike is tuned for sea level, but I will be driving it at ~5500 feet on a regular basis with occasional trips to higher elevations (7000 ft +). I will clearly need to rejet. So here are my questions:
- Where can one obtain jets for the stock carb?
- Are jets from other carbs compatible or do CA77 jets have a unique thread?
- Are any other carbs from later Hondas compatible? For example, has anyone put a more modern CV carb from, say, a 80's model Honda on a CA77? Or an aftermarket mikuni or something? If I am having trouble with finding jets for the stock carb I might have better luck with something more modern. Just an idea.
I tried searching this forum for answers....most of the altitude adjustment posts I have found are for superhawks...but if these questions have been answered before please let me know!
Thanks!
