New To The Site, help identifying the year of my bike?

Post by MotoZephyr » Thu Mar 24, 2011 1:18 am

Hey!
I just picked up an old bike left in the desert for who know how long, but I've always wanted to restore a CB77, so this is my next bike project.

I've checked for a tag on the harness and theres nothing.
The VIN on the bike reads cb77 403704

If anyone could help identifying the year I would be grateful, thanks.

Welcome to the forum. The '4' at the beginning of your number indicates a '64. If you lift the gas tank you will see a little white tag on the wiring harness. If you can still see the writing it will give the year of manufacture on there too.

Please post pictures. We all like pictures on this site. My prediction is that a bike left in the desert will have wonderful chrome and perished rubber.......

You've come to the right place. There's lots of information on the site and the search facility is there to turn up past posts on all sorts of problems

Thanks for the answer, davo, but why is it a '64? does the "10" have some significance?

I know of no paper to explain the reason for the 10 and the 40 as the first numbers of the 1964 issue.
Data shows 9,755 of the 10 issue and 3,834 of the 40 issue.Same numbering for the CB72 and the CL72 that year. ..........lm
