Is it unusual for Vin #'s in the US to start with a four? I was reading through my Bill Silvers restoration guide and it kind of sounded like the 4XXXXX series vin numbers weren't very common in the US.

Vin # 402310, is this an unusual number in the US?

I have a couple CB72's that are 4's, and a CL72 that's a 4. As I recall, they are later in the year, the 110 would be earlier in the year.
Domestic bikes almost always have the year in the middle of the serial number: CB72-64-8475... Something to that effect. A US bike would be CB72-4XXXX...
One thing I noticed is that even a late 50's bikes use the year in the serial number, so I've seen 7's, 8's, and 9's....
