CB77 305 shift pattern

I just picked up a cb77 superhawk and whondering what the shift pattern on it is? up down patterns for shifting. I know its a basic stupid question but you have to start somewhere.

neutral is 1&1/2 up

Neutral is 1/2 up from first gear - you'll get the hang of it once you try it. Pull the clutch all the way in and kick it down enough times until you just feel spring pressure - that's first gear. Now bring it up delicately until your neutral light comes on. It will click into second gear if you go too far. Kick it back down into first and try again. What bike are you used to riding? If the CB77 is your first that's OK - it's a nice ride.

you can't necessarily trust the neutral light to tell you when you're in neutral...at least I can't...

also, neutral tends to be easier to hit when bike is moving (slowly) than when at a dead stop. rock bike back and forth if necessary.

also, you'll need to learn to shift with some authority, if you just dab at the lever you'll hit false neutrals between the other gears...or worse, only partially engage gear and have it slip out.

above observations based on my own personal experience and some expert advice. shifting one of these bikes is a skill that can be learned, so go for it.
