Well, shoot. So much for a good find. I'll ask the owner what's up.

Although I agree with Ed in that it's not correct for your/our bikes, I'd say that you still have a cracking deal on a start-up for a toolkit.

Por ejemplo: from left to right -

• Wrench #1, 10/14 - tick the box
  Wrench #2, 17/19 - ditto
  Wrench #3, axle wrench (allegedly, although mine doesn't; but my toolkit is for a C/CA)
  Wrench #4 + slip-over tommy bar, 22 - I inherited one and this does fit my axle nuts, so tick the box
  Slipjoint pliers is still pliers, tick!
  Screwdrivers & handle, tick
  Rear shock C-spanner, looks to be of little use
  Driver blades' T-bar, tick
  Sparkplug box wrench, you won't know 'till you see if it fits your plugs

Still a cheap starter kit for roadside tinkerings.

Well, this thread showed up at a good time. I noticed that the axel wrench in my toolkit fits the front nut, but not the rear. The spanner for the rear shocks is wrong as well. Looking at the tool kit in the parts book, it would appear I'm missing the following.

Large 8mm screw driver
Rear shock spanner 37mm
Correct axel wrench
Points file
10 x 14 wrench

Instead of the 10 x 14, I have a 10 x 12 wrench and a 14 x 17 wrench.

It also appears I have an extra tappet wrench, which is good because the wrench shown in the parts book is actually too large for my tappets.

The spanner will not work on my shocks, which I believe was the intended purpose for that tool. But it does seem to fit the spanner nut on the steering head.

Pouch is in pretty good shape, only missing the band to hold it rolled up. Was that an elastic band or a simple flat strap that you tied. I suspect it was the latter based on the remnant still sewn to the pouch. Pouch is blue vinyl with a black cloth edging all around.

I get the feeling that this toolkit might be for an earlier CL77 or maybe a CL72 because of the cloth edging.

I'd be willing to trade my axel wrench for the correct wrench if somebody has one they want to trade. I'd also like to find the correct spanner for the rear shocks. But I can make one of those if need be.

Tool Kits, Tool Kits!
The kits for the DREAM had a totally different Axle wrench than the CB/CL bikes. (it has one BIG end)
Even though the CL72 and Small Brake CL77 had a Large Nut on the right side of the rear axle the wrench supplied didn't have a end which would fit it.
REASON YA ASK!!!
To remove the rear wheel ya took the smaller nut off the axle end and removed the axle while the sprocket with chain stayed attached to the swing arm.
Also depending on the bike ya would or wouldn't get a points file.
Early bags were canvas with a foam rubber lining and a single sort of canvas strap ya just wound around to hold the bag closed.
Plastic came later. .............lm

Thanks LM. The guy I got my bike from gave me a '65 CL77 engine as part of the deal and I know he had the whole bike because he said he tossed the frame in the dumpster at work. I suspect that my toolkit came from that bike because it would have been a small brake model.

Very interesting and good to know. I'm not sure what sizes were with the set I bought. The guy mentioned he'd try to do some additional leg work to find out what it did come off of. However, he did say that the set did come with his late model superhawk but that he was only the second owner. I guess there's a chance the first owner might have had a few different hondas and just put the tools on the side and mixed them up when he sold the bikes.

Look at the tools in the kit and if you even think they are not a SET issued for another bike and think they are from several kits. WELL??????????????
I've seen similar kits offered for a long time as correct for these bikes.
They are not Correct but at least can/will fit the bolts/screws.
Look at the patina of the tools and tell me they are original for the bikes/engines from the 60's... ...............lm

I thought they were kinda shiny too for a vintage set. But then again, I could make mine look like that with my zinc plating set up.

And speaking of platings, I had a chance to pick up a NOS chrome part from a dealer and when he went into his bins to look at it, he said half the chrome had peeled off while it sat in the bin all those years. Talk about bursting my balloon.
