A while back on eBay I spotted an item described as a “Whistling Wanker” that mounts on the 305 valve cover area (see attached picture). I forgot what the description said its purpose is. Is anyone familiar with this device and its function?

It's got to be some sort of head cooler/breather device.
I have to say it's one of the most hilarious looking things I've ever seen hanging off a 305 (and vaguely obscene)!
It's name fits it well, I'm glad I didn't see it because I would have been tempted to buy it.
It gave me a good laugh this morning so thanks for that!

Looks like a whistling wanker all right! I guess you'd be a wanker as well if you installed one on your 305!

Yes, the name does sort of roll off the tongue (so to speak) and seems to be appropriately named considering its shape. Perhaps it was used to improve one’s performance, but that’s just a stab in the dark.
