Speedo/Tach gasket

Post by Dana01 » Sat Jan 01, 2011 1:27 am

Hi fellow 305 home-boys,

Happy 2011 <edited from 2012>

I'm trying to decide if I should hunt for a NOS or replica gasket for my 66 CB77 speedo/tach. It's the oval one (5' x 3.5").

It's called Speedometer packing: p/n 37242-268-020. The existing one is intact ... mostly but for 40+ years of dried-outness, and I'm guessing it won't dampen vibrations or block moisture and rain anymore.

I'm pretty sure I can find some square rubber gasket materials and fabricate one, but thought I would ask here before charging on ahead.

Ohio Cycle doesn't have one, not did I see one recently on eBay.

Thoughts??

Be well and have a great New Year!!!!!!!

Hi,

I found that these are impossible too find in good shape.
Neoprene is a rubber with the same looks as original.

Dana, I hate to be the bringer of reality, but you're in PST time zone, which is UTC -8, not +8760! So, Happy 2011 (what are you on, mate?)

I had one of these packing gaskets, NOS, sent to me by mistake by an eBay seller when I bought her NOS complete instrument which had one attached, so I sent it back to her. I'll PM you her email; she's not been on eBay since so she just might still have it.
