Hi,
I had the same issue with shifting in neutral, but since I mounted a more stiffer shift drum stopper spring it is a lot better. Not yet comparable with my CB400F, but in any case much better then the old situation.

neutral
nuetral
When I got bought first Dream it was a basket case. Couldn't get the clutch to work at all and finally gave up and took it to a motorcycle shop.
Found out there was a ball bearing missing in the clutch acuator.
The guy set the clutch up and I had no trouble finding neutral until I took the motor side covers off to replace some seals.
I always had trouble finding neutral after that. So I think proper adjustment has a lot to do with it.
My 78 goldwing was giving me nuetral trouble when it was over 85 deg. out. I was using Valvoline 10-40 motorcycle oil.
I switched to Castrol 20-50 motorcycle oil and all of my nuetral troubles disappeared even at 95 plus degrees.

I have the same problem on my cruiser as the cb77.
it requires some finesse for sure.
I generally use right hand for hand signals, left hand on clutch, right foot on rear brake, eyes looking out for every person on the road who is planning on running me over spontaneously.

Marlin,
I doudt if the oil thickness will effect the neutral thing much if at all. I have had very good results with removing the cam follower spring and giving it a bit of a stretch to put more pressure on the roller. If you can find a spring with more strength, then that would do even better.
Trust me, don't get 'em started on the oil question. Rusty
