Simple. Becuase of the rotation of the earth on it's axis causes a gyroscopic effect pulling right in the northern hemishere. They mounted the left muffler further aft in an attempt to counteract these forces! :-) Wanna buy a bridge? It's a really pretty gold color.

Well, that's a little harsh... But his theory does hold if you are decelerating in an easterly direction. What was the original question and did we answer it?
