Carburator Problem
Am I using this forum correctly? I have a question regarding a 305 I just got running last night (sat for 25+ years), the little brass nipple coming out of the bottom of the fuel bowl of my carb is dumping fuel when running or shortly after the engine is shut down. Does this indicate it's time to rebuild the carb? What is causing this?
Re: Carburator Problem
Sounds like the needle valve is not seating.
Could be "crud" on it with your history, or the float is damaged (leaking and thus inoperable).
It would be a good idea to strip everything from the fuel cock downwards and clean up, this includes the carby as well. You will need to know some of the settings like the float height etc.
Lots of luck !! take it slow.

Regards ........... Blakey

Re: Carburator Problem
Especially check the floats for leaks !! I just had one that had 5 or 6 really small holes that were not visible to the eye right of the bat.
georGe
