What year ?

Post by bonjour » Mon Aug 16, 2010 1:18 pm

Hi guy's and gals

I finally got the frame and engine no. of my CB77 , and I wonder what year it is, If im correct it's from '67 , but I better ask the pro's around here.

Well, here they are :

Frame No. : CB77-1048027
Engine No. : CB77E-1048055

Im im correct the numbers of the engine and frame almost never match, so it's probably the original engine, correct ?

Thanks !

Today I prepped the frame, cleaned it and all, tomorrow the assembly starts and ill make a new topic where you guys can follow my progress.

Bonjour, Bonjour

Bill Silver's book give's those numbers as '64 to '67 but it's near the end - 1056494 so it could be '67. Check the white tag on the wiring harness and this gives the date of manufacture of the wire harness which will be earlier than date of registration.

Have fun

Thanks, but the white tag doesn't show a date like it supposed to do, only a number.

I also did found a number 67 under the big alluminium piece where the steer is mounted on. (ja, don't know the name)

But no date on it.

The numbers often wear off and fade. The date should be just under that number you quoted. You may need to look at it different types of light to make out the number.

Under the number, or on the other side of the tag ?

There is absolutly nothing to see, ive tried to look al different angles, also in different light, but really nothing.

But now that I know where the date should be, I try to look again, but there is little chance that I spot it.

Anyway, thanks for the advise.

Bonjour

here is a label from my 1962 C72, you can just make out the 61 on the label. Also a rather clearer label from my spare parts C72.

Yours may be completely faded.
