Hi all,
I bought a 1966 Honda CB77 about a month ago and just registered on the site. I'm looking forward to any help you all can provide.
I'm also looking for some parts. I want (1) a longer gearshift rod to move my foot controls back to the middle spot on the frame and (2) original or original looking "low" handlebars.
As far as mechanical issues go, my kick-start moves forward on its own when the bike is in gear. I've heard several explanations, but am open to hearing more about it.

I had the same issue on my bike a few years ago regarding the kick start lever, and the first advice I received from the powers that be was 'STOP RIDING THE BIKE NOW!'. It is a roller bearing that is wearing down, and is now starting to grab the kick start shaft. You can do damage to the transmission if you keep riding it as-is.
The only solution (from my recollection) is to split the cases to replace that roller bearing (which my mechanic did at the time, and now it's fine). You could also check the rest of the transmission while you're there.
Perhaps those more in the know can confirm this for me?

I see ya don't take experienced advice well!
Ya will not be happy when ya find out how much the gears and other parts in the trans ya are destroying.
Ya stopped the symptom but haven't cured the problem.

You can mahe a longer gearshift rod with threaded rod and rod ends, do a searh on the forum for ideas. Retro bikes sells flat bars, you will probably neeed the correct length cables as well. I too would warn against riding it with that kickstart issue, you can pay me now, or you can pay me later, with interest of course!

Split the cases and identify all the damaged parts then assemble it with good parts. ............lm
