Steel or aluminum sliders? The steels have a threaded on chrome seal holer that a pin wrench, or a belt wrench can be used to unscrew them. They can be a bear, or sometimes they spin off easliy. Once unscrewed, you can seperate the tube from the slider by pushing down on the fork tube, and pulling up in a slide hammer type of motion.

The perennial question - what oil should I use in my xyz? There are as many opinions out there as there are riders.

We all differ and we are all right (in our own minds at least).

What I use is Fork Oil and in a CB77 I'd use 30wt or 20W if you are light and the roads around you are smooth. 30 is not always easy to find and I usually end up buying a case. It's available on line.

Modern bikes have completely different fork internals and use much thinner oils to work in their smaller orifices.

You could probably get away with motor oil if nothing else was available, but Fork Oil is better IMHO

i noticed the 10wt honda branded fork oil (bottle said developed by showa) also claimed to be compatible with any application requiring atf.
