Need help identifing model of CB77
Need help identifing model of CB77
I recently aquired a CB77 Superhawk. The title could not be found. Which serial number would it have been registered under, the one on the fork or the one on the engine? Would the entire number have been used including the CB77 or just the numbers after the CB77- ? The bike was bought new by the person I got it from. I need to get a new title but no records come up. Any suggestions???

Welcome!
It could have been either number. I had an old registration and it was the motor number, I assume it was easer to find so this is what was used. I would think the frame number is what should be used. I don't know where you are, but in Wisconsin they don't keep registrations past about 5 years if they are not renewed.
What part of the world are you from? It helps to put this information in your profile. We have people from parts of the world here and some of your questions can be better answered if you put this info in.

Identifying Model year
The frame number is CB77-10149XX and the enging number is CB77E-10150XX The engine number is within 35 digits of the frame number. My brother was the original owner and he purchased it new in E#ast Tennessee. It was last ran in 1972 or 73 when it parked in his basement. Has not been ran since. The motor is stuck right now. Trying to free it up to see what kind of condition it is in.
The throttle cable is broken so you can't twist the throttle, one of the spokes is broken on the rear wheel, right side, side cover is missing, emblems missing off both sides of the tank. It appears everything else is there, and mostly in working order.
Where do I start?

Dave,
That is definitely not the case here in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The Frame # is usually the one listed.

Re: Identifying Model year
Can you tell us the year on the wiring harness tag (under the tank), for the database that I'm collating, please? I'm putting together a year-of-manufacture list -- not registration -- for '65-'67 CBs. It will help to fill in some blanks in Bill's and Honda's production records.jeffliner wrote:The frame number is CB77-10149XX and the enging number is CB77E-10150XX The engine number is within 35 digits of the frame number......
TIA and good luck with the title!
