CB77 newbie needs help

bought a running cb77 a few weeks ago.
it seemed fine running around the block for a bit but on my first ride to work the bike died out like it just shut off.
when you rev it up into the higher revs, it bogs and sputters as well.
could the timing be off?
suggestions on what to check would be greatly appreciated.

Go to main FAQ in yellow bar at left, not forum FAQ above, click on "How do I tune my factory stock motor on my CB72/77 or CL72/77 for optimum performance?" A good place to start.

thx. i found that link earlier today. printed it out and i'll try it this weekend.

A few quick things to try, make sure the choke is open. Put the lever down.

The other is make sure you don't have a restriction in your fuel line. I can ride about 3 blocks on the fuel in the bowl.

thanks for the suggestions.
those two things i know aren't the problem.
fuel flows very well through the lines (took off tank and checked)
choke is down.

a couple times i've thought i accidentally hit the ignition switch it just dies like you're shutting off the bike.
