Always painted Scott. I use a nylon strap wrench, with a piece of inner tube around chrome for added grip. Soak with PB Blaster or similar.

I think 65 and newer have the aluminum silver lower forks, older had the steel painted (frame color) lowers.Spargett wrote:What determines which bikes have the bare aluminum or not? Was that never stock?

steel front forks
I am running into a problem looking for new front fork seals for the steel model forks, pre 65 I think. Any ideas of where and how to source would be a huge help.
