fairly new guy with lots of questions??

Post by Kirk » Fri Aug 01, 2008 8:04 pm

greetings From Oregon
I have posted a few times, but it is now time to start my build. Any help will be appreciated

I have three bikes all pretty rough all cb77.

My first question is about fork types? In the photo below labeled 1 2 3
Are these type 1 or type 2 forks? I assume that 1 and 3 are type one forks, but have no idea what type number two are.

Below are the vin etc
1. Cb771017720 frame Cl77E1018251 motor
2. Cb771018390 frame Cb77E1018210 motor, wiring harness tag says 1965
3. Cb771018457 frame ? , wiring harness tag says 1965

So I have a scrambler motor in one I am sure being the cl motor, has no starter and different kick start.

The third motor I have has no vin is their a way to tell its year . I know it is type one has forward kick lever dual carbs so 99% sure it is a cb motor.

Sorry to put everything in one post, I also have worked on some dirt bikes and cars, but never street bikes.

Thanks for all your help,

kirk

Kirk type 1 forks have steel lowers, type 2 are aluminum, and have axle clamps at the bottom. Do yourself, and us a favor, and buy Bill Silvers books avaiable through this site. they will have the answer to at least 90% of your questions, and save you mucho time and headaches. It's the first thing I did when I started working on 305s, and Ive been restoring otrher Hondas for ten + years.
