make sure points are clean and adjusted properly along with timing set correctly.Strong battery with good ground.

I cleaned the point and ordered some new ones and have a new battery. As for the timing, im not sure how to do that yet. I have not received my manual yet. Im also not sure what the proper gap is for the points. Hope i get the manual soon. thanks for the response.

.014 on the points-You want the points to just start to open when the timing mark (F) on rotor lines up with timing pointer.You may want to spend some time reading old posts on this site(I have spent hours)).There are many posts on setting timing and carb. issues.This site can give you answers that no manual will when it come to troubleshooting.If you read Ed Moores timing procedure in the FAQ's section of this site which is for the CB and CL77 (bikes with two sets of points) you will get the basic idea.

i got my petcock rebuild kit today. now im have a problem putting it back together. i dont know there the piece that looks like an x goes along with the small ball. i looked at some drawings that i found online. but its hard to see.

The metal piece with the x goes down over the rubber with the tubes on it.Not sure where you found a ball in the petcock?If you want another photo I could dig my stuff out and take another pict.
