I see! I did the same as you, ran a wire through BUT that was when I first got it running last Thursday night. I'm sure it deserves another look/clean since I have the carb broke down. Thanks and do you happen to have the full diagram you posted a section of?

UPDATE*

Well this is complete bullshit.

Carb back together with floats at spec height. All clean.

Cleaned plugs. Proper gap.

Points set to open exactly at "F" even though by doing that they almost NEVER close.

Bike ran for 2 minutes, reved, quit. Will NOT start at all. I have now burned up my starter trying to go elec start and even the kick is starting to skip teeth now. I cannot even begin to understand WTF is going on. Plugs aren't as fouled and even have a brown tint.

Here's what works/worked: Timing COMPLETELY off. Points open well after "F". Carb jet needle set to spec. Fouled plugs. Got more rides on it than ever. Now I got nothing but a sore ass foot.

Don't know the answer to the epoxy float fix, but I wouldn't try it...
