UPDATE*
Well this is complete bullshit.
Carb back together with floats at spec height. All clean.
Cleaned plugs. Proper gap.
Points set to open exactly at "F" even though by doing that they almost NEVER close.
Bike ran for 2 minutes, reved, quit. Will NOT start at all. I have now burned up my starter trying to go elec start and even the kick is starting to skip teeth now. I cannot even begin to understand WTF is going on. Plugs aren't as fouled and even have a brown tint.
Here's what works/worked: Timing COMPLETELY off. Points open well after "F". Carb jet needle set to spec. Fouled plugs. Got more rides on it than ever. Now I got nothing but a sore ass foot.

Don't know the answer to the epoxy float fix, but I wouldn't try it...invizibletouch wrote:Also, about the leaky float...2-part epoxy LIGHTLY brushed on with a fine paintbrush? Yay/Nay?
I just bought a $10 rebuilt float at Retrobikes: http://www.olypen.com/retro/
Here's the online fiche so you can look at the exploded diagrams:
