I found this Superhawk recently. I had the vin checked at the DMV and it is clear. Can anyone identify the year of the bike? I have looked around at various sites, and asked at the DMV, but they do not know. The DMV is calling it a 62. I have read that the high handlebars suggest a later model. Any suggestions? Can someone tell me how to decode the VIN?

The bars are after market and the bike looks like a 1966 issue to me. ............................lm

I believe in one of my books it outlines how to tell the year by the frame/engine number.
I'll take a look when i get home today, or if i forget, tomorrow.

It is not running, yet. I do not have a compression gauge, but it sounds good upon kicking. I only found this bike 2 days ago- and have not had much time to work on getting her up and running. She only had a quick bath so far- and I am already falling in love!
