Ok. One more hit on the carb topic;
Did you use canned air or low pressure air nozzle to blow out all air passages?

Not sure the cam chain would jump a tooth, I think there’d be a better chance of it jumping completely off (oh noooo Mr. Bill!) if there’s that much slack in the loop, but you’d not only hear it in the bottom end while cranking, the valves wouldn’t open and close and you might damage the crank.
Man, short of popping the top to see the TDC punch mark, I’ve only one thought;
Might it be possible to remove the plugs, set #1 piston at the top, and see where the timing F mark is? You'd need an extra hand for this one.
May not need to remove the valve cover? Just check the mark on the end of the cam shaft is pointing vertically downwards while on the F timing mark?

I'm going to pile in with the check the static valve timing and ignition timing crowd, but also, I am not a fan of non standard coils and untested capacitors.

Also, check to make sure your plug wires are secure in the plug caps - this can be a weak link.

Not least: are your new spark plugs resistor type? If yes, then a no-no. Use non-resistor spark plugs, at least during the testing stage. The 'barely enough' original ignition system was designed around non resistor plugs and you want to eliminate as many non standard variables as you can.
